EcoSmart ECO tankless and electric water heaterEcoSmart ECO

EcoSmart tankless water heaters are built in several sizes from the smallest 3.5 kW POU model that is recommended for point of use service and where low water flow is required, to the ECO models with up to 36 kW of power, designed for the whole-house applications for demanding households.

One of the major difference between the above two types, except the capacity, generated power and electronics, is that point of use (POU) models do not utilize the Flow Sensor Technology as the whole-house units, making them simple to use with only ON/OFF option.

EcoSmart electric units are also designed as the water heating boosters to increase the capacity of the tank-type unit, as the solar backup to provide continuous comfort during the colder days, when the solar panels are not operating efficiently. Or used for space heating in hydronic floor systems.

Design

Due to its tankless design, EcoSmart ECO water heaters are designed small, compact and lightweight that do not occupy as much space as the tank-type. This is what allows easy handling and installation almost anywhere - under the sink, above the sink, on the wall, in the kitchen, bathroom, office, garage, basement, RV, residential or small business.

There are two models for point of use applications - POU 3.5 and POU 6 both coming with the same attractive look and small size of only 6" x 11" x 3" - used mainly for one to two bathroom or kitchen sinks. The power button allows the user only to turn the unit ON or OFF while by changing the water flow to increase or decrease the temperature of the outgoing water.

Larger models, such as ECO 18, ECO 24, ECO 27 and ECO 36 are truly whole house water heaters that provide much more hot water than the previous ones, enough for comfortable shower even in colder regions where the incoming water has a lower temperature. As opposed to POU models and only ON/OFF option, ECO models use the modulation and electronic control to regulate the temperature. Both types have the screen to display the temperature.

ECO 36 is, with the dimensions of 17 " x 21" x 3.6" the largest unit and with the four 9 kW heating elements and total power of 36 kW, the most powerful water heater from EcoSmart. It is able to produce up to 4 GPM (45 F temp. rise), enough to supply plenty of hot water to multiple fixtures.

Self modulation

All tankless water heaters from EcoSmart are designed for the whole-house potable water heating, and are able to provide hot water on demand, but require minimum water flow for the activation.

Once activated and depending on the water flow rate, the flow sensor will modulate the power, changing the energy consumption and allowing more or less energy to be used for water heating - low water flow rate results in less energy used and higher water flow means higher energy consumption. This is how EcoSmart manufacturer ensures just enough power for heating, reduced fluctuation and better comfort with greater savings.

The minimum water flow in these models is low - 0.25 GPM so there are no problems with hot water delivery if the water pressure is low or when mixing hot and cold water.

Easy temperature control

The temperature of the outgoing hot water can be easily adjusted between 80 and 140 F in 1 F increments, using the temperature controller, while the digital display provides convenience for monitoring and checking the status. This feature is available only on EcoSmart ECO whole-house and tankless water heaters.

Enough power

Every water heater from ECO series with the modulating power provides just enough heat for the comfortable shower or dishes - the power output is depending on the received voltage. The heating elements which are screwed-in into the heat exchanger are standard-type allowing simple installation and more important fast and easy replacement.

As they are made of copper, they can last longer as there is no danger of corrosion.

And as the water heaters are designed as tankless (no storage water tank), water is heated instantaneously and on demand - saving greatly on energy and water consumption. The stand-by heat loss is eliminated and there is always fresh water coming out the water heater.

Safe and reliable

The EcoSmart tankless water heaters save on energy and reducing the carbon footprint as there are no products of combustion as found on gas-models. They are much smaller than the tank-type heaters so when they break less waste goes onto the landfills, and in addition most of the components are replaceable.

Also tankless last longer than tank-type, over 20 years, and plus the warranty is limited lifetime. There is no corrosion or rupture, no tank leaking, no anode rod issues and rotten egg smell.
