I thought I would be environmentally correct and researched a tankless
hot water heater. I went to our local Lowes hardware store. They would
not sell the unit to me. They said I would have to contact Bosch. Bosch
would recommend a Bosch approved plumber that would sell and install
the heater. I called the 800 number and Bosch did recommend a plumber.
I called and they installed the heater. This was in September of 07. It
worked well for a while. We not had hot water for most of this year. I
have called the plumber many times this year. We are on a first name
basis. He is a nice guy but I really don't want to know him this well.
He replaced the gas valve and charged me close to $500. Two services
calls over the years at $120 each.
We called Bosch to complain and they were very rude. They said it was
our fault because we did not follow their recommendation to change the
venting.
Again, we contacted their plumbers who installed it according to Bosch's
specification. If there was a modification we were not notified. As
soon as we found out we had the plumbers change the venting. In no way
this could have been our fault.
When the plumbers come they tell me that they have lots of problems
with the heater we purchased.
This heater came with a warranty and I am going to hold them to it if I
have to take them to court! I am already researching how to do this.
It is terrible to pay that much money, follow all the instructions and
have the manufacturers turn their backs on you. I am just about ready
to tear it off the wall and send it back to them.
The unit I have is the GWH-635-ES-N.
All I really want is to have hot water from this heater. That is what
it was designed to do and it is not doing it. Every morning I need to
go to the unit and press the reset button repeatedly to get it to
start, or we need to boil water to have a hot bath.
Please let me know if there are a lot of others like me conserning the
Bosch hot water heaters, maybe we can get a class action suit against
them if they do not respond to my next letter which will be a warranty
claim.
Thank you for listening and let me know what you think.
