How to change the anode on American Pro Line tank?

by Spencer Uzri

(Arlington, WA)

Zeljko,

Very nice site! I have an American Pro Line tank that is ~5 yrs old. Our 2-person home uses well water that is treated by filtration system that includes an ion exchange treatment system to remove Fe (ie. water "softener"). I have some questions regarding the heater anode & maintenance related to it.

- For my conditions, roughly how often should the anode be changed out?

- I can't precisely locate it, but suspect the anode is mounted underneath the top cover, possibly sandwiched in a foam insulation layer under the cover, but not sure. Do you have any information specific to this model & how to access the rod?
