Propane tankless water heater suggestion

My story is that I want to replace a worn out Hot Water Tank in our summer home in Central New York State where the winter temperature is cold & the well water into the house is hard. Lots of calcium scale has accumulated in the old tank. I think my choice would be to go with a Propane Gas tankless water heater but not sure about some things. (1)-Will the low winter temperature be a concern if the water is drained from November to April ? (2)- Will the pipes accumulate scale & clog faster than a tank type heater. (3)- The water is nice & cold year around. In reading reviews, the biggest problem is getting a unit that will work well consistently, reliably & efficiently from a company that has good customer support. I am looking for efficiency & lack of future problems. This past summer has been a mess with a lack of consistent & reliable hot water. Would like your professional recommendations & suggestions about products & services.
