7 years ago I bought a GE water heater. 2 years later I had trouble keeping the pilot lit. I called tech support for help, they sent an entire burner assembly which solved the problem. I've had no trouble for 5 years. Suddenly, no hot water. I replaced the thermal coupler and solved the issue, but the pilot would go out when the gas came on. I called tech support, although the unit is no longer under parts warranty, they diagnosed the problem and told me how to correct it,when I asked for replacement gaskets, they sent a new assembly. Put that in, and we have hot water and the pilot stays on. I'm happy with the product, and the GREAT tech help line. Nothing lasts forever.
